Córdoba (founded in 1617) is a city in "Estado de Veracruz" in central México which was named after Diego Fernández de Córdoba. It is the local commercial center of sugar milling and coffee processing industries. Additionally Córdoba is an important place for the marketing and refining of tropical fruits.

In August of 1821, the Mexican revolutionary Agustín de Iturbide and the Spanish viceroy Juan de O'Donojú signed the Treaty of Córdoba here, ratifying the Plan de Iguala and confirming México's independence. In 1973 the city was severely damaged by an earthquake. With a population of 130.695 (1990), Córdoba is also one of the tourist spots in the region, as it is located on México highways 190 and 180. Neighbouring cities are Naranjal, Fortín and Ixtaczoquitlán.
